The Omen "Damien Thorn" Mens and Womens Movie T-Shirt
The Omen is easily one of the scariest movies about a little boy and the 1976 supernatural horror thriller, starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, succeeded at unleashing horror from the most benign and well intended setting.
Peck plays a U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom whose son dies during childbirth--but rather than let his wife take on the unbearable emotional strain secretly adopts a child orphaned by the death of the mother in labor; naming him Damien Thorn. It's not long before strange events portend the true evil this child will wreak upon the world. The violent signs become too much for his father who relents to suspicions that his child is the Anti-Christ.
We're not sure what is scarier though, the movie itself or the frightening real life connections. Nothing was safe around the time of its filming--airplanes carrying the writer David Seltzer and Peck were struck by lightning, IRA bombings nearly missed cast and crew, an assistant to the special effects artist was killed in a car accident just in sight of a mile marker reading "Ommen 66.6 kilometers" the same year the film was released. Not enough proof that The Omen was cursed? Gregory Peck's son committed suicide just two weeks before the movie was filmed, an animal trainer for the film was killed in a freak accident and even a plane scheduled for the film was rerouted as a commercial flight that ended in the tragic death of everyone on board! Richard Donner may have also directed The Goonies, Scrooged, and the Lethal Weapon films, but his very next film--Superman, a film property with a curse of its own--starred the ill-fated Christopher Reeve. Just remember, if something frightening happens to you today, it could be the omen.
