King Crimson "Mellotron" Rock Men's T-Shirt This rock t-shirt is in our top three favorite graphic designs of all time... seriously, one of the coolest shirts ever... I mean, can you really say you'd rather be wearing some garish all-over-print t-shirt screaming some crap brand logo like "Millionaire" or "Blather" or some other nonsense?!
No, I didn't think so... it's a much better idea to wear rock t-shirts that align your identity with obscure underground prog rock bands like Robert Fripp's King Crimson (or even Nik Turner & Lemmy's Hawkwind)! Alternately, you could simply wear it as a Mellotron t-shirt... showing your deep accentual knowledge of the mostly forgotten, but much-loved Mellotron tape-machine synthesizer! Around here, we've recently been able to focus on more than one thing... so we do both!!
How do we do it? You ask... Well it's easy, we reply...
Guitarist Robert Fripp and his Frippertronics are pretty darn kick-ass all by themselves (Rolling Stone magazine states he's the 42nd greatest guitarist of all time - because they write a magazine, they have the knowledge, ability and right to define that in finalized terms - *dripping*sarcasm*)... so when you add in his work in King Crimson's progressive ambient and hard rock genre of cult music... it's impossible to ignore.
That brings us to the fantastic Mellotron synth, not to be confused with the other most famous Moog Synthesizer... both are very, very cool musical instruments... but the Mellotron was used by a large variety of 60's and 70's bands... such as The Moody Blues, The Beatles, Donovan, Manfred Mann, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, The Bee Gees, Steve Windwood's Traffic, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, The Pretty Things, The Kinks, Elton John, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, Genesis, Hawkwind and even Thin Lizzy!
The bottom line is simply this... if you don't like King Crimsons album "In The Court of The Krimson King" (seriously, who doesn't love the monstrous 21st Century Schizoid Man?!? - even The Who's Pete Townshend calls this album "an uncanny masterpiece")... and you can't stand the sound of the Mellotron synthesizer instrument... then you my friend, don't know Fripp!!
So buy this wickedly obscure King Crimson Mellotron shirt... be the awe and envy of all those who DO!!
