Mars Volta "Tarantism" Jazz Men's T-Shirt

Alright guys, look here... this is really hard to write about... Mars Volta is so many things, it's almost impossible to know where to begin. So let's just say that the word and ideology behind Tarantism, is the most coherant thing we can grasp onto when it comes to this amazing progressive rock band... that's straight from the heart, the highest compliment.

You might be questioning that statement, so let me explain... in my eyes, prog rock is about vast musical experimentation and "progress", which by nature, tends to lead into a somewhat psychedelic listening experience.

To me, the mix of skilled instrumentation and inevitable psyk-outs, make progrock a fascinating genre of music... when done right... when done wrong, it can quickly become so pathetic it spills out of your speakers into your head, inspiring deep self-loathing of the human race.

Mars Volta has not only avoided creating irrevocable hatred towards Mankind... they've managed to create the unbearable lightness of being, a space trip that transcends the irony of life on earth.

Haha, yeah... space trip. irony.

So, if that kind of introspective dialog doesn't pique your interest in these two Spanish demi-gods of hard freak-out music (Guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala)... then you need to simply go out and get your hands on one of their early albums (EDIT: not "At The Drive In", that's too early!!), particularly "Frances The Mute"... that's a good introduction to the mind-melting space trip that The Mars Volta brings to the table... but be careful, the songs never end.

What's even wilder, their live shows are just as crazy as their albums... I never miss a Mars Volta gig, the first one I saw sounded so good it actually scared me.

Oh my doG... wicked good.
