Seriously though, out of all the serial killers in the world, the Zodiac is one of the scariest. The reason for this is his intelligence level, he wasn't (completely) insane. That makes him extremely frightening.

We expect serial killers to be lunatics, madmen that can't control themselves... we attribute it to a mental instability, which we can rationalize. What we can't understand is how a (relatively) sane man would actually want to kill people... how he could go beyond just the thought, and proceed with the action. This is why the Zodiac killer has been written about multiple times, made into various movies, and is very well-recognized in society.

Do you know ANYONE that hasn't heard of the Zodiac Killer? I didn't think so.

The zodiac killings were in Northern California (mainly San Francisco) during the Summer of Hate around 1969... this was a highly influential time in American history, there was plenty of turmoil in society over the Vietnam War.

With so many highly-trained soldiers coming back to a society that disrespected them for something they were drafted for, this created many disgruntled men who risked their lives for a country that wasn't theirs anymore. It's possible the Zodiac was one of these men.

Adding even more sensationalism to the killings were his ciphers, which were sent to the Media and the police (and then stupidly publicized, which created copycats!). These cryptograms were short messages that contained taunts and described his reasons for killing, which was the idea that everyone he killed would be his "slaves in the afterlife". It's been debated whether this was actually true, or if he was just using this ideology to gain media coverage...a man without a country may want revenge and attention.

It should be recognized that the Zodiac Killer was never caught and is still at large, the ongoing case remains one of San Francisco's most infamous unsolved crimes (even with today's technology). So that's why we made this awesome Zodiac movie t-shirt, we like all things "cult", and the Zodiac Killer has a rich tapestry of cult imagery and ideology.

This shirt obviously won't appeal to everyone, but there should be some rockers out there who would sport this killer tee at the next concert! I know I wear mine on a regular basis, and it brings plenty of comments... because most people know that wearing a t-shirt, and killing people, are two different things.
