You may not have understood or enjoyed The Who's scooter film, Quadrophenia... but if you're looking at this Lambretta t-shirt, we doubt that's the case. Quadrophenia had such an unusual story, with an interesting cast, and some of the coolest clothing and scooters ever seen in a mod cult movie! Bravo!!! Pete Townshend, John Entwhistle, Roger Daltry and Keith Moon really knew their stuff... even when it came to rock opera and movies! Bravo!!
For those who don't know, Quadrophenia is a teenage angst story of Jimmy Cooper (Phil Daniels), who's disenfranchised from his own life in 1960's London... he's a scooter boy, driving around on his Lambretta scooter and chasing the latest mod fashion trends... he's always looking for an idol to show him the way. It's not until one day when Jimmy discovers his current idol, the rebellious Ace Face (played by the musician Sting) is a lowly bellhop at a ritzy hotel, that he see's his disenfranchised life become shattered and he is freed from the chains that bind his soul.
It's a great coming-of-age movie featuring tons of Lambretta and Vespa scooters, all of which are decked-to-the-nines with chrome intricacy... on top of that, there's an excellent riot scene and some authentic mod fashion in it's 60's prime... not to mention The Who's excellent rock songs throughout!
But you're probably asking yourself, why doesn't this Quadrophenia t-shirt actually say "Quadrophenia" on it? And our answer would be... "because that's too obvious for a cool tshirt, and who cares anyway?" LOL!
What we mean is, the amazing Lambretta scooter is the real star of that movie... it's the part we wanted to focus on. Plus, we thought many people wouldn't want to advertise the movie on their chest so directly (subtle is cool these days), some of these people may actually be bigger fans of the scooter, than the movie.
If you want an officially emblazoned Quadrophenia advertisement on your new t-shirt, I'm sure you can find one out there... but over here, we're more interested in graphic t-shirts that speak to the fans of the various cool things on this wild-and-untamed Earth of ours, we really like the movie, but we like the idea of Mods and Rockers and Lambretta's and Vespas... much, much more!
